HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY - INDIA

The philosopher Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, India’s first Vice President and second President, described the significance of the Indian flag.

Bhagwa or the saffron colour denotes renunciation or disinterestedness. Our leaders must be indifferent to material gains and dedicate themselves to their work. The white in the centre is light, the path of truth to guide our conduct. The green shows our relation to (the) soil, our relation to the plant life here, on which all other life depends. The “Ashoka Chakra” in the centre of the white is the wheel of the law of dharma. Truth or satya, dharma or virtue ought to be the controlling principle of those who work under this flag. Again, the wheel denotes motion. There is death in stagnation. There is life in movement. India should no more resist change, it must move and go forward. The wheel represents the dynamism of a peaceful change.

Homeopathy has flourished in India, and can proudly say that Homeopathy is given the respect and its rightful position in the healing. It’s the philosophy of the Indians to be accepting to the different healing arts. Its rich tradition of Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani, and Homeopathy have a separate ministry and the government has taken steps to set up AYUSH hospitals which will only use Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy. Truly respecting the people’s choice to follow their choice of healthcare.

India is also the only country to have a recognised 4 year degree course in Homeopathy.

It is our sincere wish that other World Health Organisation, foster the growth of alternative healthcare. On the same lines as they have a WHO Good Manufacturing Practice for pharmaceutical companies, they should develop a guidelines to encourage countries to adopt alternative healthcare solutions by laying down a standard syllabi for the courses in alternative therapies.

Jai Hind.
