Diagnosis-Prognosis of OCD, Hysteria & Hypochondriasis – A Homeopathic view
October 2, 2020 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm UTC+5.5
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often shrouded in mystery, as sufferers struggle to understand the cause of their disorder. Already prone to “over-thinking,” many believe that if they can determine what caused their brain to go awry, they can figure out a way to fix it. People with OCD have been known to spend hours ruminating to find “the root of the problem.”
The term hysteria is at least two thousand years old, and it has been used to describe a variety of conditions. Somatoform illnesses also include symptoms previously associated with hysteria and are characterized by physical illnesses not fully explained by a physical cause.
Illness anxiety disorder is a recent term for what used to be diagnosed as hypochondriasis. People diagnosed with IAD strongly believe they have a serious or life-threatening illness despite few or no symptoms. Yet their concerns are very real to them.
